Lauren Conrad Bangle

Thursday, May 29th, 2008
Animal prints are everywhere. They’re showing up on all sorts of jewelry, shoes and clothing, sometimes subtle and sometimes bold. Actress/designer Lauren Conrad was spotted wearing this zebra bangle. The front of the bracelet is partially hidden, but appears to have zebra heads that meet (see the ears?), with a hinge at the gemstone we can see in the photo.

I couldn’t find the exact bracelet, but Kenneth Jay Lane’s animal print bangle is a close match, and available in four different prints: giraffe, tiger, leopard and zebra. (Buy Direct) Lauren’s bracelet looks a lot like the same designer’s White Tiger bracelet.

Sequin’s resin Zebra Print Bangle is available for about half the price if you prefer a more organic-looking style. (Buy Direct)

You have lots of options if you like Lauren’s ring, and price depends on the materials you choose. Let’s go from low to high:

  • Combine citrine with cubic zirconias to get the look for lots less (Buy Direct)

  • Spend a little more and choose this pretty silver ring set with a large yellow topaz surrounded by white topaz (Buy Direct)

  • Switch to citrine surrounded by diamonds if you’re ready to spend more (Buy Direct)

Emma Watson's Leather Bracelet

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Emma Watson wore one bold piece of jewelry with a strapless dress — I think it’s a good look for her, a combination of trendy and classic.

I’ll send you to Etsy again to search for hand-crafted leather cuffs. When I looked, the search produced over 1,300 results. It’s a mixture, but plan to spend some time browsing because you’ll find lots of good looking bracelets to consider.

Diamonds Ruled at the Dolce & Gabbana Party During the Cannes Film Festival

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Getting invited to the annual Dolce & Gabbana party that’s held during the Cannes Film Festival isn’t an easy task, but the A-list stars who make it always look — at the very least — interesting. Burlesque star and pinup girl Dita Von Teese was every bit the 1940’s woman from head to toe, and her diamond bow necklace was gorgeous. Kate Hudson chose stacked bracelets and diamond earrings to accent her white mini dress. Lindsay Lohan wore diamonds around her wrists and neck, and on her ears. Some news reports call her left-hand ring an engagement ring — a more accurate description would be eternity band.

Wire Coil Head Pin

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008
I use this coil technique a lot, and it is a wonderful way to add some jazz to the bottom of your earrings or for a pendant. Make instant head pins with just a little wire using this coil method.

You’ll need:

A few inches of wire
Round-nosed pliers
Chain-nosed pliers
Nylon-nosed pliers

The length and diameter of your wire will depend on what you plan to use the finished head pin for. Generally, I find that 21-gauge or 22-gauge wire tends to be good general purpose sizes for sterling silver or gold-filled wire. If you plan to use some extra heavy beads, you may want to bump it up to 20-gauge.
