We’re up late now…it’s Christmas Eve, and we’re waiting for our daughter to at least pretend she’s asleep. We’ve already gone through the whiny repetoire of “I was reading and I had to go to the bathroom.” You parents know what I mean. And we’re so tired our eyes burn. I think next year we have to make a rule. Once she goes up, that’s it. Lights out, li’l missy. No going to the bathroom. Santa takes refunds.
Since we need to wait a little longer before we can lay out the bounty of Christmas shtuff around the tree, I decided to post some pictures that I finally got around to taking today. Some of these pieces I’ve had a while, a couple are brand spanking new as of this week.
Have a Merry Christmas, and I hope you get the one thing you asked for.
The snaps worked great on these peyote bracelets. But only by accident did I find out.
I wanted to try regular snaps, the kind you would sew on clothing, instead of a jewelry clasp. I was sewing away, in my own little peyote world, half watching and half listening to the TV when I realized I had sewn both sides of the snap on the underside of the bracelet. Hello!! How ya goin’ snap it now? Unless I pinched the ends together and snapped. That would look really stupid. And I was NOT taking all that thread out.
Lightbulb!! I get a lot of lightbulbs appearing over my head. I must look like an idiot like that Arby’s man. The solution was to add another snap on top of the one already sewn!! I used a small jump ring to connect the ends of the second snap. To remove the bracelet, just unsnap one side. It works great. And I love how it does not add any additional length to the bracelet.

Here’s how the snap looks.
So… these three are done. Next up. The half finished Rivoli bracelet before I go off into the night sewing on my neglected Janome.
