A majority of diamonds that are mined range from light yellow to pale brown, diamonds that have intense color are called “fancy diamonds.” The most famous fancy diamond is the Hope Diamond. On display at the Smithosian Museum of Natural History, the 45.52ct grayish-blue diamond was mined in India and sold to King Louis XIV who gave it to Marie Antoinette when he became king.

Scientists working on the project hope it will help them understand how carbon rich molecules develop. Although the Hubble is not the first telescope, it has lead to many extraordinary breakthroughs in astrophysics.
